"A Brush With the Sea" is a collection of 45 original paintings created by Joan Carver.  The artist showcases her, most recent oil paintings, yet displays her variety of talents in the use of other mediums in other paintings. The Vandroff Gallery located in the (JCA) Jewish Community Alliance, comes alive with beautiful, colorful paintings of water, seascapes, koi fish, tropical palms and more. Here's an opportunity to own an original piece of art, from an up-and coming local artist. Meet her at the Opening Reception  Sunday May 2nd., 2-4:00pm. The artwork will remain hanging until May 26th.

Silk painting is wonderful because of it's flowing quality and spontaneity; as the dyes bleed across the silk's surface, the hand of the artist intuitively brings the fabrics to life and images are created with unspoiled purity of color. The transparency of silk is so exquisite and delicate that it brings the brilliant, magnificent colors to life.

My piece "Samurai Warrior"  was accepted into the exhibit. It is a cruciform piece with watercolors and some handmade papers.
